ATLAS SZTUKI was founded in 2003. Its originator and founder was Andrzej Walczak, one of ATLAS GROUP partners. The gallery is located in historic and restored building at 114/116 Piotrkowska, Łodź (in the backyard). The opening was on October, 10, 2003, with an exhibition of Roman Opałka's paintings.
Atlas Sztuki began its fifth season of exhibitions. Till February 2008, it presented 30 exhibitions, showing different faces of modern art. The gallery exhibited outstanding Polish artists, as well as the best ones from other countries. many exhibitions organised by Atlas Sztuki were later presented in other galleries, in Poland and abroad.
In a few years Atlas Sztuki earned itself a name of one of most interesting exhibition places in Poland. Among other things, it was granted with the first place in ranking of Polish private galleries of 2007, published by "Polityka" weekly.
The gallery takes part in enterprises from other disciplines of art. It co-produced "Testosteron" performance in one of Łódź theatres; moreover, it was co-producer of such movies as "Mistrz" directed by Piotr Trzaskalski, and "Bezmiar sprawiedliwości", by Wiesław Saniewski.
Since December 28, 2006, Atlas Sztuki is recognised as a public benefit organisation.
