ATLAS POURABLE GROUT

FOR JOINTS 2 ÷ 50 mm WIDE
FOR FLOOR CERAMIC AND STONE TILES,
FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USE

USE
ATLAS POURABLE GROUT is designed for filling 2 ÷50 mm wide joints in floor ceramic tiles (glazed tiles, terracotta, gres tiles), natural stone and stone agglomerate tiles, concrete tiles and china mosaics. ATLAS POURABLE GROUT may be applied in dry, damp and wet rooms, on balconies, terraces and in floor heating systems. ATLAS POURABLE GROUT is recommended in particular for grouting large floors and tiles located in places where very accurate joint filling between tiles is required e.g. on terraces. Because it can be poured between tiles, it is very convenient to use it in case of grouting elements of irregular shape (joints of variable width). It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Add ATLAS ELASTIC EMULSION to the grout if used for grouting tiles fixed in wall or floor heating systems. ATLAS POURABLE GROUT with ATLAS SILTON S and ATLAS EDGE TRIMS are a set of products used for professional finishing of various floor tiles.
PROPERTIES
ATLAS POURABLE GROUT is a dry mix of top-quality cement binder, specially selected aggregates, fillers, dyes and modifying additives. The semi-liquid consistency enables to accurate joint filling, facilitates application and reduces working time. It has high resistance and adhesion; moreover, it is crack, scratch and abrasion resistant and adheres strongly to tiles. The grout is available in grey (ATLAS GROUT for thin joints and ATLAS GROUT for wide joints are also available in this colour). ATLAS POURABLE GROUT is frost- and water-resistant.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
Before grouting, carefully remove dust and any dirt from joints. A joint between tiles should be of even depth, therefore remove excess of the adhesive when tiles are pressed towards the surface. You can begin grouting only after the adhesive on which the tiles had been placed has set; not earlier, however, than after 24 hours. If ATLAS MIG adhesive is used, tiles grouting can begin after 4 hours. Just before commencement of work, clean tile surface with a moist sponge and slightly wet the joints (in particular if grouting begins after complete drying of the adhesive or in case of renovations – in places from which old grouts have been removed). There may be discolouration of excessively absorptive tiles (e.g. marble). Therefore, try grouting on a small section of a joint before proper tile grouting.
MORTAR PREPARATION
In order to prepare the grout, pour dry compound into a container with suitable amount of water (in proportion: 0.20÷0.25 l of water for 1 kg of dry compound) and mix until homogenous, manually or mechanically. The grout is ready to use after ca. 10 minutes and after remixing. It maintains its properties for ca. 2 hours. In order to make the grout more water-resistant and elastic, add ATLAS ELASTIC EMULSION to the water used. When using with ATLAS ELASTIC EMULSION, pour it to a water solution of the emulsion prepared as follows: 10 kg of ATLAS POURABLE GROUT dry mix for a solution prepared using 1 kg of ATLAS ELASTIC EMULSION and 2 l of water. Continue as previously described. It maintains its properties for ca. 2 hours.
APPLICATION
Method 1. Using a containers with the compound, fill in joints so that the mixture slightly sticks out above upper tile edges. After ca. 30-40 minutes when the grout slightly sets, remove its excess above tile surface with a small spatula and shape grout’s surface with a wet piece of cloth. This way the risk of soiling tiles with the grout is minimised. Method 2. Distribute the compound on tile surface using a wide rubber float on a stick. This facilitates and speeds up work in case of grouting large surfaces. After initial grout setting, clean the surface of grouted tiles. Clean using a wet hard sponge with bigger pores or a float with sponge (note: excessive soaking of grout surface with water while cleaning tiles may result in washing out of pigments and washing out of the fresh grout). At the final stage of work, it is recommended to use a appropriate small piece of cloth or a hard sponge with small pores. Do not clean in dry conditions due to the risk of a colour change as result of rubbing in the dry mortar into the wet grout. In order to maintain optimum grout setting conditions, keep fresh grouts slightly wet for the first few days e.g. by sprinkling or rinsing their surface with clean water. The actual colour of the grout is obtained when the grout has completely dried - after about ca. 2 - 3 days. Note: due to the possibility of appearance of small differences in colour, it is recommended to use a grout of the same production date and batch number in a given place. Avoid excessive drying. Begin grouting outdoors so that the setting grout is not exposed to precipitation, low temperatures (below +5°C) and high air humidity, at least for three days. Non-observance of the aforementioned recommendations and application of inappropriate amount of water for grout preparation may result in deterioration of mortar parameters and discolouration. Differences in joint depth, various types of china and tile washing too early may result in uneven colour shade on grout surface. In joints located in particular parts of tiles (internal and external corners, expansion joints), use appropriate finishing strips e.g. ATLAS EDGE TRIM or fill them in with permanently elastic materials e.g. ATLAS SILTON S silicone. To reduce grout absorptivity and increase grout resistance to dirt, it is recommended to use (when it is completely dry i.e. after ca. 2 weeks) ATLAS DELFIN protective agent.
The information comprises basic instructions of product application and does not relieve users of responsibility for work in accordance with good construction practice and OHS regulations.
CONSUMPTION
Consumption depends on joint width and depth, and what type of tiles is applied. 1 l of grout is obtained from ca. 1.55 kg of dry mix. For example: 0.6 kg of dry compound is sufficient for ca. 1 m2 of 30x30 cm ceramic tiles, with joints of 6 mm in width and 8 mm in depth.
TOOLS
A drill with a mixer, spatula or rubber float, sponge and sponge float. Wash the tools with clean water directly after use. Clean the remainder of the set mortar, that is difficult to remove, with ATLAS SZOP
