Product description

Forms screed or floor of thickness 10 - 100 mm - layer thickness depends on the expected structural arrangement (see table below).
For application of new screeds or for repairs of the existing ones.
Can be used as a top coat layer.
Recommended for use in residential and public buildings, traffic routes, in technical and utility areas, garages and warehouses.
Recommended for application on screeds with heating system - does not require the use of elastifying admixtures, efficiently conducts heat.
Enables forming a slope and repairs of concrete surfaces, stairs, slabs, screeds, entry ramps.

Types of finishing layers -  ceramic or stone tiles, PVC and carpet flooring, floor panels.
Possible arrangements:
• bonded  - thickness 10-100 mm -  substrate is a high quality concrete,  cement screed (with or without underfloor heating)
• on a separation layer -  thickness 35-100 mm -  on poor quality substrates which do not provide proper adhesion - dusty, cracked, oiled, dirty, very absorbable; separation layer can be made of 0.2 mm thick PE foil.
• floating - thickness 40-100 mm - applied on thermal or acoustic insulation made of: polystyrene boards of appropriate hardness, hardened mineral wool floor panels, etc.
• heating, the layer above the heating system should be min. 35 mm thick.

PROPERTIES

Waterproof and frost-resistant.
Rapid increase of compressive strength - walking on a screed, foot traffic after 6 hours. Strength after 24 hours > 25 MPa, after 3 days> 30 MPa.
Rapid loss of moisture: -  tiling after 24 hours  - (moisture content 1 day after application of screed of thickness ≤ 4 cm in standard conditions is less than 4% CM), - application of panels, floorboards, and parquet after 3 days  (moisture content <2%).
Dense-plastic consistency  - due to special modifiers content, working consistency of mortar  allows for quick and easy distribution of the mix, floating or obtaining an even, smooth surface (horizontal or sloped).
Compressive strength: ≥ 30.0 N/mm².
Flexural strength: ≥ 5.0 N/mm².
A very low linear shrinkage reduces the risk of cracking - due to low W/B
 (water: binder) coefficient, and the content of washed aggregates, minimum screed linear expansion/shrinkage while drying <0.6 mm/m. 
High resistance to abrasion  - A12 grade  - can be used as the final layer.

Changes in residual moisture content in time. The results were obtained under normal conditions at 20° C and humidity of 55%. Each time, before using flooring materials, perform individual humidity test using carbide method (CM).

Substrate preparation
The substrate should be stable, structurally sound and air-dried, and its preparation method depends on the floor structure. General requirements for substrates:
• cement floors and screeds - min 28 days old.
• concrete - min. 3 months old.
Bonded screed.
The substrate should be rid of layers and elements which would impair bonding, especially dust, lime, oils, greases, bituminous substances, paints, weak and loosening parts of old screeds. Surface cracks in the substrate should be widened and dedusted.
Just before the application of the main mortar layer, the substrate should be moistened with water and the contact coat applied. Contact coat can be made in one of two ways by using:
- ATLAS POSTAR 60 modified with ATLAS ELASTIC EMULSION  at a ratio: 10 kg of ATLAS POSTAR 60 mortar + 0.5 litres of water + 1 kg ATLAS ELASTIC EMULSION
- ATLAS ADHER S mortar - application according to the Technical Data Sheet.
The contact coat has a liquid consistency and can be applied with a brush. Rub it vigorously into the wet surface. When the contact coat dries, apply another one before the application of the main screed layer (“wet on wet” method).
Screed on a separation layer. The layer of a separator material, e.g. PE film should be tightly laid, without wrinkles and folded up the walls (onto expansion strips) at least to the height of the screed.
Floating screed. Insulation boards should be laid tightly on an even surface, with an edge offset. Make a separating layer on the boards and fold it up onto the walls.
Screed with heating system. The heating system should be checked and fixed, and in the case of a water heating, the pipes should be filled with water. It is recommended to make screed in a single layer (providing the heating system is fixed in a stable manner). During all works, follow data specified in the technical design and adhere to recommendations given by the manufacturers of heating systems.
Expansion joints
Screed should be separated from walls and other elements within the work area by means of the ATLAS EXPANSION JOINT PROFILE. The size of the working areas should not exceed 36m², and the size of the side should not be greater than 6 m Expansion joints should be executed also at room thresholds and around loadbearing posts. The existing structural expansion joints should be transferred onto the screed layer.
Mortar preparation
Put the material from the bag into the container with the suitable amount of water (ratios are given in the Specification) and mix until homogeneous. Mix mechanically with a a slow-speed mixer with a drill for mortar or a flow mixer. The mix is suitable for use immediately after mixing and keeps its properties for approx. 30 minutes. If the tiles are going to be laid the next day, then: - prepare mortar with the water / dry mix ratio 1.75 l / 25 kg, - screed thickness should not exceed 4 cm.
Mass application
All works must be carried out in accordance with flooring technology. Use wooden or metal floor battens in order to obtain even screed or floor surface,. Battens should be fixed so that the thickness of the screed would correspond to a determined size and in no area was not less than the minimum value adopted for a given structural system (bonded with the substrate, on a separation layer, floating). In order to thicken the mix and for better distribution, perform rod vibrating or trowel tamping. Remove excess mortar with zigzag moves along the screeds. Fill and level the assumed working area within approx. 30 minutes. After up to 3 hours, rub and smooth the surfaces with a float.
Screed drying and maintenance
Protect the installed layer against excessive drying, direct sunlight, low air humidity or air drafts. In order to ensure favourable conditions for mortar setting, depending on the needs, sprinkle the newly-made surface with water or cover with foil. Proper care results in increased strength of the products but also prolongs its drying process. The drying time of the primer depends on the layer thickness and thermal and humidity conditions of the surroundings. The use of screed or floor (foot traffic) can start after approx. 6 hours and full load after approx. 3 days.
Finishing works
Cladding application, depending on the setting conditions, humidity, type and permeability of the liner can be started on average after 1 day in the case of tiles, and in the case of PVC flooring, panels, floorboards, and parquet, after approx. 3 days. In case of any doubts as to the residual moisture content in the base, perform appropriate measurements. This should not be greater than: 4% - for ceramic tiles 2% - for vapour-tight lining, e.g. PVC, panels and floorboards, and parquet floors. Prime the surface with ATLAS UNI-GRUNT emulsion before you start to lay cladding (ceramic tiles).

• Inappropriate amount of mix water results in deterioration of strength parameters of floor or screed. Monitor the mass consistency and quality of mixing during screed or floor application.
• Low temperatures and high humidity in the room may extend the drying time of the screed.
• Until the floor heating is fully turned on, temperature should be increased every 24 hours by maximum 5°C until the maximum operation temperature is achieved. The temperature should then be lowered at the same rate until the heating is turned off.
• Before the application of PVC flooring, apply a smoothening layer of ATLAS SMS 15 or ATLAS SMS 30 on the ATLAS POSTAR 60 screed.
• Tools must be cleaned with clean water directly after use.
• Contains cement. May cause respiratory irritation. Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye damage. May cause an allergic skin reaction. Keep out of the reach of children. Avoid breathing dust. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. IF ON SKIN (or hair): Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water (shower). If skin irritation or a rush occurs: Get medical advice/attention. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses (if present and easy to do). Continue rinsing. Follow the instructions of Safety Data Sheet.
• Protect the product from moisture, transport and store in dry conditions, on pallets in tightly closed bags. Use within 12 months from the date of manufacture on the packaging. The content of soluble chromium(VI) in the ready weight of the product ≤ 0.0002%.
