Product description

Primes substrates for ATLAS SILKAT thin-coat renders.
Limits the absorbability of the substrate – prevents excessive transfer of water from the freshly applied renders into the substrate.

Main properties

USE

Primes substrates for ATLAS SILKAT thin-coat renders.

Limits the absorbability of the substrate – prevents excessive transfer of water from the freshly applied renders into the substrate.

Increases adhesion – strongly adheres to the substrate and the applied renders.

Facilitates the execution of the next layer – the rough surfaces reduces “slip” of the applied render.

Creates temporary protective layer for the façade – protects the bare facade against weather conditions for half a year.

Types of substrates – concrete, traditional plasters on walls of bricks, blocks, or ceramic, cellular concrete or silicate hollow bricks, plasterboards, thermal insulation systems with EPS, XPS and mineral wool.


PROPERTIES

Contains aggregate – increases the adhesion owing to significant development of the effective surface between the layers (creates rough surface).

Protects the substrate against adverse effects caused by the new layer – constitutes a chemical barrier between the substrate and the render, limiting their interaction – limits colour penetration from the substrate and occurrence of stains on the surface of the render.

High adhesion – min. 1.0 MPa to concrete.

APPLICATION

Substrate preparation

The substrate should be:

• stable – sufficiently rigid,

• sufficiently long stabilized – the assumed stabilizing time for substrates is, respectively:

−for new cement plasters from ready to use ATLAS plastering mortars, min. 1 week for each 1 cm of thickness,

−for concrete walls, at least 28 days,

• dry,

• even – fill in larger irregularities and cavities with ATLAS LEVELLING MORTAR, ATLAS ZW 330 or ATLAS PLASTERING MIX, or adhesive mortars for the execution of the reinforced layer in thermal insulation systems. Before repair, prime the surface with ATLAS UNI-GRUNT emulsion,

• clean –free from layers that can deteriorate the adhesiveness of the render, especially dust, dirt, lime, oil, grease, wax, residues of oil and emulsion paints; a substrate covered with algae, fungi, etc. must be cleaned with ATLAS MYKOS agent.

Mass preparation

The product is delivered as the ready to use mix. It must not be mixed with other materials, diluted, or thickened. Mix the contents directly before application to equalize the consistency.

Mass application

Apply the priming mass onto the prepared substrate (evenly over the whole surface) using a roller or a brush.

Rendering

Rendering of the surface can commence after the priming mass has completely dried, i.e. after 4 ÷ 6 hours after its application.

CONSUMPTION

The average consumption is ca. 0.3 kg of the priming mass for 1 m².

IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• The primed surface has to be protected against direct sunlight, wind and precipitation, both during works and while setting.

• The tools must be cleaned with clean water directly after use.

• Protect eyes and skin. In case of direct contact with eyes, seek medical advice. Due to the alkaline pH of the mix, direct or longer contact with the product can cause eyes and skin irritation and metal corrosion. Proceed according to the Safety Data Sheet.

TRANSPORT & STORAGE

The mass must be transported and stored in tightly sealed buckets, in dry conditions and positive temperatures (most preferably on pallets). Protect against overheating. Shelf life in conditions as specified is 12 months from the production date shown on the packaging.
