USE

Go top
FILLING GYPSUM F is designed for jointing plasterboards with the use of reinforcing tapes, for masking screws heads as well as for filling minor gaps in gypsum plasters. The mortar should not be used on metal, wooden and plastic substrates.

PROPERTIES

Go top
FILLING GYPSUM F is a dry mix based on natural gypsum binders sourced from gypsum stone calcination, mineral fillers and modifiers, which make the mortar flexible and easy in application. The modification of the mix with special cellulose microfibers strengthens the material structure additionally, improves its resistance to cracking and mechanical strength. The content of elasticised polymers improves the mortar elasticity and adhesion to the substrate.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Go top
The jointing can commence after stable and rigid boards fixing in accordance to their fixing technology, when no dimensions changes resulting from moisture and temperature factors occur. The joint between the boards should be approx. 3-5 mm wide, whereas the joint between the boards and construction elements should be executed with a control joint with self-adhesive wrapping tape or filled with elastic acrylic mass. Sharp board edges should be bevelled at the angle of 45° and primed with one of Euro-Grunt priming agents. The joint surface should be dry and cleaned of impurities. The screws heads should be dipped (approx. 0.5-1 mm) and should not project from the board. Any steel elements, which might contact the mortar directly, should be protected against corrosion.

MORTAR PREPARATION

Go top
Pour the dry mix into a container with clean water (ratio: approx. 0.8 l of water for 1 kg of gypsum), leave for 5-10 minutes, then mix manually or mechanically until homogenous. The mass can be used just after mixing and keeps the working parameters for approx. 60 minutes. Before mixing the next batch clean the container thoroughly as the set mortar residues may shorten the setting time of the next mix.

APPLICATION

Go top
Depending on the reinforcing tape type one should follow some general rules: in case of elements subject to fire resistance requirements one should use tapes made of fibreglass, self-adhesive mesh tape or interlining. Use interlining for cut edges reinforcing. The use of paper tape ensures the highest joint strength. For use of paper tape and interlining – fill the joints with mass pressed as deep as possible into the gap. Press the tape into the freshly applied mass so it fully sticks to gypsum without any crinkles. Do not leave air bubbles beneath the paper tape. After hardening, apply the mass again keeping the width approx. 5-6 cm larger than the previous coat. For self-adhesive mesh – cut the tape, fix onto the boards edges, fill the gaps with mass pressed through the tape meshes. After hardening, apply the mass again keeping the width approx. 5-6 cm larger than the previous coat. On cut edges - in order to even the joint with the board surface - keep the width of min. 40 cm. The screws masking should be executed in 2 phases – during the first joints floating and final floating with gypsum finishing coat. Smooth the surface to make it even when the final coat dries. Avoid excessive and intensive room heating directly after jointing. It is recommended to float whole surfaces with gypsum finishing coats. Preparation for top finishes: check if the surface is sufficiently dry (max. moisture up to 1%) and free of dust and dirt. Use the primer recommended for a particular top coat. Follow the recommendations of the paints, wallpapers and adhesives manufacturers.

CONSUMPTION

Go top
The average consumption is approx. 0.4-0.5 kg per 1 rm of the joint. Depends on the board edges type and thickness as well as the joint width.
