Our role goes beyond supplying materials. We actively support professional development through specialist training delivered at the FS Trade Compliance Training Centre in Huyton, helping installers understand both the principles and limitations of modern retrofit systems.
We also provide practical support directly on site, assisting contractors with technical advice, detailing solutions and communication with investors, housing associations and councils throughout the delivery process.
Why External Wall Insulation (EWI)?
Recent findings from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) DEEP research project – delivered by Leeds Beckett University, Loughborough University and the University of Salford – confirmed that solid wall insulation is “by far the most impactful retrofit measure” for solid wall homes.
The report found that:
- Solid Wall Insulation (SWI/EWI) achieved the highest reductions in heat loss and fuel bills among all retrofit measures tested.
- SWI was the only individual retrofit consistently delivering statistically significant energy savings.
- Homes retrofitted with SWI were able to achieve EPC Band C and meet future heating demand targets.
- Fuel bill savings associated with SWI reached 38%, significantly outperforming other single retrofit measures.
When properly designed and installed as part of a whole-house retrofit strategy, EWI helps create warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient homes for many years to come.
