ATLAS GO! Start & Finish is produced as a dry mix of alpha-type synthetic gypsum, mineral fillers, modifying additives and setting time regulators.
AirMatrix Technology – an advanced air matrix with a uniform and stable structure, evenly distributed throughout the mixture, provides:
- low weight,
- ease of application,
- the ability to easily fill and spread the mixture over the surface,
- quick and even drying,
- ease of sanding, resulting in a uniform and stable surface characterised by high strength and hardness.
Increased hardness and adhesion – achieved by strengthening the inter-crystalline bonds of the binders through the addition of advanced redispersible polymers.
High resistance to softening – enables the structural, mechanical and surface stability of the hardened product layer to be maintained when exposed to moisture arising from subsequent stages of work, such as further layers of skim coat, emulsion paints or thin-film decorative coatings.
Excellent workability – the product can be applied using all available application methods: trowel, roller or machine. The wide range of consistency adjustment, tailored to the preferred application method, does not compromise the product’s high mechanical strength. The extended open time facilitates and streamlines application and finishing.
Start & Finish – the compound works well as both a base and a top coat. Its excellent working properties ensure complete ease of use:
- maintains high plasticity,
- reduces the formation of bubbles,
- does not roll on the surface,
- does not drag during application,
- it is easy to smooth.
The next coat can be applied after just 30 minutes using the ‘wet-on-wet’ method or onto a fully set previous coat.
The change in colour of the skim coat as it dries allows you to monitor the progress of the work.
The applied skim coat can be sanded mechanically, by hand or wet finishing – after initial setting, the compound is suitable for use with professional sanders fitted with appropriately selected sanding discs. The high hardness of the set skim coat reduces the risk of uncontrolled abrasion during mechanical sanding. For manual sanding, dry sanding using sandpaper or mesh with a grit size of 120–220. ‘Wet’ finishing using sponge pads allows the surface to be smoothed without dust, ensuring quick and clean work.
High surface quality standard:
- free from scratches and blisters,
- no craters or cracks resulting from shrinkage during drying,
- a perfectly smooth and even surface, providing an excellent base for paint and wallpaper.
